Training

With the total lack of infrastructure and development, Wowo Gap workers are sourced from local villages and are provided with the opportunity to learn new skills.

There are very limited employment opportunities for young people to learn new skills and so they have embraced and continue to embrace the opportunities to learn new skills provided by working for Resource Mining Corporation at Wowo Gap.

For Resource Mining Corporation, there have been multiple benefits of our local employment policy. We have a committed workforce and a workforce that has demonstrated ownership of the tasks they are assigned. There is a clear demonstration of wanting to learn more along with clear definition of leaders within the groups.

The natural leaders have undergone additional training to the extent where this group is quite able to communicate via e-mail, organise and run the drilling operations as well as the general camp administration.

We have trained cooks and site supervisors to standards where they can operate independently of expatriate on-site supervision. The current exploration campaign is operated by 100 per cent local PNG labour including professional geologists.
